English to Spanish Translation and the Use of Cat Tools
In our daily work the use of Cat tools is indispensable to any translator. It is just a question of which tool to use and why.
Some big translation companies require its free lance translators to use the most well known Cat programs (Trados), for any questionable reason.
I only work with what I know best, and with what works well for my translations needs, Wordfast. Not only is it easy to
use, but it does the job of other “well known” translation programs. For any translator that does not have the bucks
to spend on one, Wordfast is the best value for its money. It is compatible with other programs as well,
and it doesn’t lack anything, insofar as to make you envy other tools. I have even worked with Quark and
Excel and it worked fine for me.
My English to Spanish translations run smoothly and fast with the program and won’t skip lines. It is easy on the eye
and replicates the fonts well. But my favorite thing about this translation tool is the help you get when something goes awry.
The Forum is fantastic, from a simple question to a more complicated problem, they are ready to answer and guide you through your trouble.
In conclusion, for translators going from English to Spanish and other languages, if you are thinking of a translator's Cat tool,
Wordfast is the one to choose. It just doesn’t get any better.
